The Last Page
Comics are about the last page. It's the hook. The surprise or the shock. The cliffhanger that keeps people coming back for more. It's one of my favorite things about comics. Trade paperbacks? Screw that! I want tension and draman and a desperate wait for the next issue.
That being said, I now bring you my favorite last page of the week. This one's from Catwoman #63:
Pfiefer, you never disappoint. I can't wait for next month.

Amen, brother! Comics are a serialized form of storytelling. By their very nature they're designed to be read in chapters. Unless it's just not possible I will search out individual back issues of a storyline (often spending more money in the process) rather than buy a trade. It negates he drama if the "cliffhanger" is resolved on the next page.
But then you don't have to wait a month to read the next chapter!
